Publisher's Synopsis

The voice of Jamaica and a wit born of surviving tough times fill every page of Donovan Davis's remarkable memoir, Nuff Lemonade. He gives us a full account of the love and betrayal of his youth, and he leads us to what saved him.
His determined Mama pulled every string for his admittance, and on September 8, 1948, Donovan Travers Audley Davis entered Kingston College as student #1251. He did well in his academics and brought honour to the sports teams.
Davis earned his psychology degree in Canada and returned to Jamaica. A chance visit to his alma mater resulted in both teaching and coaching positions.
In 1964, local success spurred Davis to enter the K.C. team in the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia. The team won the 440 yard relay in 42.7 seconds, and in 1965, 41.7 seconds, transforming the sport and exposing the island's sprint talent. The revelation opened up recruiting to U.S. schools and changed the lives of his athletes forever.
Donovan almost slipped through our lives as the invisible man. Despite his greatness and his contribution to the school and Jamaica, he remains always unassuming, kind, truthful, and caring. His book remembers a man of humility who inspired confidence and created a cohesive team spirit, bringing his homeland's beauty and strength to the eyes of the world.
