Publisher's Synopsis
This collection of papers from the International Symposium on Novel Techniques in Synthesis and Processing of Advanced Materials was presented at Materials Week '94 in Rosemont, Illinois, October 2-6, 1994. Emphasis is placed on the various methods for synthesis of materials, including mechanical milling, combustion process, sol-gel process, microwave, laser chemical vapour deposition (CVD) process, metalorganic CVD and combustion synthesis. In addition, coverage includes structural characterization at small-dimensions thermodynamics, kinetics and properties of future need for advancement in the electronic industries, and a special emphasis is given to the synthesis of nanocrystalline electronic materials.;This allows the reader to have a better understanding of the chemical and physical phenomena that occurred during synthesis and processing of these advanced materials. Coverage includes: far from equilibrium proceessing of light materials; the synthesis of materials by combustion processes; combustion chemical vapor deposition of ceramic coatings; jet vapor deposited aluminium-aluminium oxide nanolaminates; and metallic and ceramic nanocomposite powders via chemical routes.
