The light that shown across the waters was created from an oil lamp, inside a huge lens, whose wick had to be trimmed and the lantern glass cleaned daily. The work of a lighthouse keeper was both labor intensive and time consuming. There were many sailors dependent on their attention to duty. It is to these, often heroic few, that this book is dedicated. It is my desire that it connects you with a part of your historical heritage and inspires you to discover it for yourself.
