In book 1 of this seriea. Asena is fresh out of the military. With no family, she finds herself in Starbuck, Washington helping her only friend, Izzy, start a bakery. Each year the shifters find it harder and harder to hide their true identity from the unassuming humans. Legends have been passed down through the generations that the shifters were originally from the Faery Realm. No one really believes the tale until three visitors show up on Christmas Eve with a proposition to take the shifters back to their original homeland. The problem is, the Northguard Clan will have to fight in a war to return and earn their place among Faery-kind. Humans don't survive long in the Faery Realm but that won't stop Asena, she will do whatever it takes to protect those that she loves. This is her one shot at the family she has always wanted.
