Nola Flynn, raised to be the deadliest soldier in the Resistance army, was her father's pride and joy. Until the day she betrayed her family and disappeared. Twenty years later, Nola lives a solitary life in a sector outside Patriot walls. Scarred by her past, she is unable to form close bonds. For her, it's safer to be alone. Everything changes when she's recruited to tutor the autistic daughter of a Patriot leader. Through her relationship with the child she rediscovers a joy for living and learns to trust again.
