Publisher's Synopsis
Tweed - star detective turned spymaster - reluctantly agrees to make inquiries into a man called Michael Volkanian at the urging of his old friend, Superintendent Buchanan. Buchanan had found Michael on the steps in Whitehall, where he heard him utter only three words: "I witnessed murder.". A simple request becomes a nightmare. One by one, four brutally ravaged skeletons are discovered and Tweed must pursue the unknown killer with the same relentlessness the murderer showed in destroying his victims. Unlike Buchanan, he insists that the horrific murders are not random. As Tweed and his team investigate, the tempo ratchets up ferociously and one eerie climax follows another.
