Publisher's Synopsis

At the grand old age of 59 I woke up in a London hospital following a 10 and-a-half hour operation for stomach cancer. The last time I had woken up following surgery was after being gunned down on the streets of Dover at 3am one Sunday morning with my good friend Greg, by, it turned out, Drug Runners from the North of England. 3 days prior to this marathon operation I was working on board a ship which had just left Norway on route to the Arctic. The vessel was the James Clark Ross, a British Antarctic Survey ship which I had worked with on numerous voyages.
My life has been it seems, me going from one unusual or downright crazy situation to another, then another. They have been the result of being in the wrong place at the right time, or vice-versa. By my own doing through good, and bad choices.
In this book are just some of the more memorable stories which happened to me, just as described. These involve tales of my early life and of my involvement in fights too numerous to mention, my Army days, and my security jobs which have taken me from armed anti-piracy roles in the Indian Ocean, to Armed security jobs in Afghanistan and Iraq. There are my spells in prison and my involvement in murders, laughable robberies, assaults, shootings, rape allegations, Crown Court farces and far more besides. On occasions I have had to change some names to protect the not-so-innocent, and you will understand why when you peek at the pages within `Nine Lives and Counting`.
Prepare yourself for some laughs, some winces, and a lot of surprises that make up just a few of the weird moments that have made up for a very eventful life. Enjoy the read.
