Publisher's Synopsis
Sam Nirviani has closed more homicides in the years on the Homicide table than anyone who came before him. Sam has the unfortunate habit of saying what he thinks. In doing so he made an enemy out of the new Mayor. Sam has had a number of partners and now has to break in yet another. The murder they catch, first day out for the new detective is loaded with 'high jingo'. The Mayor and the father of the dead girl, who is a powerful Alderman are best friends and political allies. Sam has to take this killer off the streets with most of the St. Louis hierarchy riding his back and second guessing his every move.
