Publisher's Synopsis

A gay coming of age novel set in New York City in the early 1970s. Nicangelo is a young man who finds himself homeless and penniless in the city and must find his way through a minefield of drugs and sexual abuse. He wanders through the hustling scene in Times Square and through the mean streets of the outer boroughs and for a while down the byroads of Puerto Rico, meeting an array of characters some helpful, like the elderly drag queen Manette, and some harmful, like the perversely abusive Ned Hartland. Although there is much hardship and dark dealings, the story is full of optimism and life, as Nicangelo meets people who have made their own way and who help him find his own.
