The first three volumes were previously published with English translations by Pei Te Hurinui Jones; the waiata in Part Four were newly translated by Hirini Moko Mead for the 2007 edition.These completely redesigned and reset editions, published in association with the Polynesian Society, preserve the integrity of the original text and commentary, but the typography has been modernised by the inclusion of macrons. The volumes also include CDs of waiata drawn from the Archive of Maori and Pacific Music at The University of Auckland.
