Publisher's Synopsis

In this concluding story of the series The Documentary, twenty-first century settlers, eking out a living in a settlement set up like the nineteenth century, face unexpected challenges when new settlers begin arriving. How should they address the issue of a mayor showing up, when they had never voted one in? They have the U. S. Constitution and The Settlement By-law to govern them in dealing with this. Though a saloon had never been envisioned in the minds of the people, a saloon keeper comes to town and sets up shop. What should they do when miners begin arriving, and frequent the saloon? The people are still trying to mold themselves into families, but now are being faced with teenage rebellion. The younger children are afraid to go school, because their schoolmaster does not like children. In addition to all of this, these ready-made families must learn about Montana winters, illnesses, thievery and how to make their family members, who had been strangers only months ago, become a real family. And what should the atheist parson do when someone walks the aisle and asks him how to get "born again"?
