The CD consists of readings of extracts from poetry, prose and drama in the NEW HODDER ENGLISH GOLD 1, 2, 3 main course. It also includes full short stories and poems. The texts are wonderfully brought to life by the voices of professional actors. Most pupils will listen to the extract and then read it, confident in the knowledge of what to expect from the text. Moreover, they will be able to fulfil many of the Speaking and Listening requirements of the National Literacy strategy. Many pupils at very low reading levels will also benefit from being able to listen to the tape and then go on to attempt the activities, instead of having to read the full extract.
