Obesity plays a significant role in the development of diabetes mellitus and in the progression of various diabetic complications. It is however, a complicated disorder in terms of genetics, metabolism and clinical practice. Thus the precise mechanism of the involvement of obesity in diabetic states has yet to be clarified in detail.
