Publisher's Synopsis
As humans, we live in symbiosis with nature and animals. Nowhere is this more conscious than in Africa. Unplanned 75 days and nights in the middle of the fascinating and species-rich wilderness of the Okavango Delta in Botswana brought Bettina Rumpf experiences that she shares in this very personal animal and nature book. The Okavango Delta in the north of Botswana - one of the seven natural wonders of Africa - is up to 22,000 square kilometers and is home to 500 species of birds and 128 species of mammals, as well as around 150 species of reptiles and amphibians. The Canadian couple Karsten and Bettina Rumpf visited the delta in spring 2020 - just like tourists from all over the world come here year after year. But this journey became intense. The world experienced collectively and suddenly the drama of the spreading corona pandemic and a first global lockdown apparently stopped the course of the earth. The couple had to extend their stay. Instead of the planned seven days, there were two full months. They were stuck in paradise, stranded like two modern Robinson Crusoes ... With her camera and the knowledge of the local guides, the amateur photographer captured the magic of the Okavango Delta and now knows: this miracle of life must never be lost!
