A novel set in the 14th century, during the age of the poet Dafydd ap Gwilym. Efa is a miller's daughter who lives near the river Honddu. Her world is the world of the borough with its agitations, rebellions and pestilence - she longs to escape. She manages to join a host of travelling poets who travel all over Wales. And for a whole year and beyond, her life is transformed.
