As a fitting introduction to what is to follow and as affording an indisputable corroboration of the truth and accuracy of the gospel narratives, our first Chapter Shall be occupied with a pre sentation of the complete coincidence of the evan gelists' statements with those of recent explorers in relation to the physical features, natural pro ductions, cities and villages, streams and routes, of the land in which the scenes of the gospel were enacted. The testimony which nature thus bears can neither be gainsaid nor resisted, and the mi nute and perfect accuracy of the Scriptures as thus tested confirms our confidence in their truth fulness where we have not the same means of testing them.
