Publisher's Synopsis
This book offers a historical context of the growth of Jamaica's Diaspora in the United States of America in the 1970s and the tremendous work of the Hon. Senator Alfred A. Rattray, Esq., Jamaica's 4th Ambassador to the USA in uniting Jamaican Americans in 1977 through the National Association of Jamaican and Supportive Organizations (NAJASO), Inc., the umbrella group for all Jamaican organizations. Ambassador Rattray's vision of NAJASO for synergistic unity among a variety of Jamaican, Caribbean, African-American, and international organizations would create an effective "patriotic front" supporting Jamaica which has lasted over 35 years and promises to be a vibrant organization in the future. The book also offers a brief history of Jamaican Americans in the USA over the past 340 years and their significant contributions to American life.
