Tolstoy wrote many classics in different genres, such as War and Peace, Anna Karenina, and The Kingdom of God is Within You, and much of his work was based off of his life experiences in the Crimean War and his spiritual awakening. My Religion is a book that Tolstoy wrote five years after his spiritual awakening. In the book Tolstoy discusses his life before and after he found Jesus.
