In My Lost Childhood, Helga Stern tells the story of her tumultuous early life, from life with her family in a town in Germany, to fleeing back and forth between Belgium and France. After her parents were sent to Auschwitz and perished there along with her grandmother, uncle and cousin, she lived in an orphanage, in hiding in Paris, and with an aunt, before also being deported to Auschwitz.
