Doctor Jo is a successful doctor in 1959, her husband has several practises and a pub business. All is well until a phone call on a Sunday night. As duty pathologist, Doctor Jo is called out by Inspector Regan to write the death certificate for a suicide. However, when she arrives at Cedar's Road, she discovers the victim has been murdered. In pursuing the truth, she visits a friend in Birmingham who has just sent home a patient with similar injuries to the Cedar's Road victim. Jo is on the trail of a secret organisation that punishes bosses who promote women because they can do the job better than men; this upsets the status quo. These strange methods, to keep men in their positions of power, have led to murder, Suddenly, Jo's father and all her family and friends are targets. Only Regan and she can expose the head of this bizarre organisation, but Arthur Bray and the professor are setting a trap forthem and the Tweed twins have been employed to silence Jo and her family.
