Publisher's Synopsis
This is the first full-length collection of poems by poet and scholar Jason Dewinetz. From the sun drenched Okanagan Valley of B.C. to "Géricault's Severed Limb Paintings", this work examines images both tangible and ethereal, as well as the beauty of the grotesque. The title section and "In Theory" poems are an attempt to merge and blend the theoretical texts of Foucault, Shklovsky and others with resonant personal experiences. In a similar manner, this collection itself is a kind of movement through the work of Canadian poets like Kroetsch, Marlatt, Ondaatje, Webb and Suknaski, and the theory behind their work. As he writes, Dewinetz attempts to come to terms with, make sense of, and to understand the minute, everyday details of life; this is the ongoing process of moving to the clear.
