Publisher's Synopsis

Double bill featuring two romantic musicals starring Ewan McGregor. In 'Moulin Rouge' (2001), Christian (McGregor) is an aspiring bohemian writer, eking out a living in late 19th century Paris. An unlikely series of events result in him impersonating a Duke at the Moulin Rouge, Paris' most decadent club, and he falls tragically in love with its biggest star, Satine (Nicole Kidman). Events conspire against young love as the film speeds energetically towards its fateful conclusion. 'Down with Love' (2003) is a homage to the rom-coms of the 1960s - especially the Doris Day/Rock Hudson vehicles. Small-town librarian, Barbara Novak (Renee Zellweger) arrives in New York City with big plans and decides to write a novel that embraces feminist views ahead of their time, encouraging independence and a healthy sex-life above a happy relationship and marriage. The novel, 'Down With Love', becomes an overnight success, and arouses the interest of long-term bachelor and lady-killer Catcher Block (McGregor). Block decides to put Novak to the test by going against character (playing the shy retiring male) to make her fall in love with him and thus expose her in the magazine he writes for. But he finds himself falling for Novak.
