Courses for ESL (English as a Second Language) or ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students are taught in both 2-year and 4-year schools and may be found in a variety of departments including English, ESL and extended or continuing education as well as in language institute programmes elsewhere on campus. MOSAIC 1 is appropriate for students who score 440-450 on the TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language), 135-145 on the CELT (Comprehensive English Language Test), 50-60 on the Michigan Proficiency Test or 65-75 on the Michigan Placement Test.;The MOSAIC 1 programme is known for its flexibility and ease of use. The texts in the MOSAIC 1 programme are filled with a variety of skill-building exercises, lively activities and interesting, practical information about life in the United States and Canada.;The audio programme for "A Listening/Speaking Book" has been completely revised and re-recorded and a copy of the tapescript is now bound into the student text. The Listening/Speaking audiocassette can be packaged with the text for student purchase. New boxes called "Did You Know?" can be found in every chapter. Through additional information and questions, these boxes offer students a different perspective on the chapter theme.
