My cousin, Joyce Mortenson Wilson, researched the Mortenson and Hughes family history in the 1980s with the help of her husband Bert Wilson and encouragement from her brother Roger Mortenson. Joyce put the data in order by names, dates, historical stories, and as many photos as were available. Joyce released her historical data on the internet and allowed relatives, descendents, and the public full access to her findings and accumulation of her hard work. Now I believe it is time to include her work within this book that can be handed down through the generations for everyone to see the chronicled facts and anecdotes of stories told by our ancestors. The birth, marriage, and death dates are included (if known) and complemented with comments, stories and photos for those who will now have the opportunity to experience the life of our ancestors who were responsible for our being here today. My Aunt Eileen Mortenson Williamson also contributed many photos and family stories to be included in this book. It is through her encouragement that this book became a reality.
