This second value for C.D. F. Being found by omitting the observation of 1863, Jan. 21, whereof the discordance is much larger than should be attributed to the accidental errors of good observers. We have in this solution given the same weight to all observers and observations. There are twenty-one cases in which the image of the star is noted as very bad, execrable, a mere blotch, &c. Collecting these, we find.
