Publisher's Synopsis
Will Taylor is feeling pressured into marriage to save his family ranch in Medona Texas. His father, Russell Taylor, stipulated in his Last Will and Testament that Will must marry before his thirtieth birthday or the ranch will go to Russell's brother, Harrison. With no promising young ladies in Medona, Will reluctantly advertises for a mail order bride. Miranda Harrington lives with her mother and stepfather in Maple Grove, Indiana. When her mother, Nora, unexpectedly passes away, Miranda's life takes a turn for the worse. Her step-father, Frank Buchanan is deep in debt and drinking heavily. He becomes increasingly abusive and demanding toward Miranda. In a moment of weakness, she answers a mail order bride advertisement and begins to secretly correspond with a young man named Will Taylor. One day, she discovers a most unsavory scheme her step-father is devising involving herself. Out of desperation, she abruptly flees Maple Grove with no solid plan. She sets out for Texas in the hope Will Taylor is true to the person he portrays in his letters. Arriving in Medona, Miranda is terribly shocked upon meeting Will. A surprising turn of events leaves her wondering if she can go through with the wedding after all.
