Publisher's Synopsis

Mistrustful Minds tells the story of the relationship between the poet Thomas Wyatt and Anne Boleyn from the early1500s, when they are childhood friends, up to May 1536, when Anne is executed and Wyatt suffers imprisonment. Their love affair, shortly before Henry VIII takes an interest in Anne, is a pivotal event in the novel, and is the reason Wyatt never feels entirely safe with his King thereafter. Also a favourite of Catherine of Aragon whom the King is seeking to divorce, Wyatt finds himself in a series of difficult situations, not least because Thomas Cromwell has become his mentor and friend. Allington Castle in Kent, Wyatt's home and place of safety, is a continuing presence in the novel. There are troubles there, too. Mistrustful Minds is the first novel in the series The Allington Accounts.
