Publisher's Synopsis

A critical examination of the Encyclopedia Britannic.
"Misinforming a Nation," by S. S. Van Dine, is a muckraking critique of the Encyclopedia Britannica, a book so radical and dynamic in its intellectual and progressive views that it is bound to create widespread discussion wherever it goes.
The author's aim is to prove that the Encyclopedia does not at all line up to the merits claimed for it in regard to its advertised qualifications as a supreme, unbiased and international reference library'- In summarizing its incapacity he says of its main departments of culture that they are "characterized by misstatements, inexcusable omissions, rabid and patriotic prejudices, personal animosities, blatant errors of fact, scholastic ignorance, gross neglect, non-British culture, an astounding egotism, and an undisguised contempt for American progress."
The contents include disputations on The Novel, The Drama, Poetry, Non-British Painting, Music, Science, Philosophy, etc., together with a list of two hundred omissions of more or less important celebrities denied biographies in the Britannica.
