Publisher's Synopsis
What you are about to experience is an entirely new concept of reading.
Süren's literary fictions are also minimalist art galleries designed to give you a larger than life creative adventure.
At first glance, Süren's abstract pages may seem static to any reader. But if you spend more time slow-reading them, you will suddenly discover that the bulk images created with words move, pulsing, radiating a mysterious and incomprehensible light. The pages invite you on an unpredictable journey and into an unknown dimension. A cognitive journey. To an astonishing dreamland.
Some minds, like some birds, are not meant to be caged. We can reach inner peace only if we let our imagination rule. Their vivid imagination makes children almost always happy. However, adults, often repress their inclinations so much that they don't even know what they are. But they shouldn't censor their imagination. On the contrary, they should give it freedom now and again.
These fictitious exhibitions present an opportunity. The author designs them to be so. This approach makes these books hard to categorize. Are they fiction? Or non-fiction? Like the Rorschach test, but in words? Stereogram-y words? It's hard to tell. Their story is simple, though.
Semih Süren always dreamed to be an artist. While creating these books, he imagines himself as a painter. The pages in front of him are blank canvases. He says he finishes his paintings in his mind one by one and gives them titles.
You will see the white pages. You will see the black pulsating titles in a vast pale deepness. Just look at them. Try to imagine the paintings hidden under the titles that will give you pause for thought. Pick sizes for the paintings. Imagine them as large or small. Let your imagination catch them. Don't intervene. Just let your subconscious do the work. After you look for enough time, those titles will bring you to the art show. All the colors and the images lay behind them. Wait until you see. This will also be a meditative process for you. Prepare yourself for literary hypnosis.
These exhibitions will free literature from logical laws. Süren enjoys thinking himself as the literary equivalent of the painters like Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. He says he spontaneously expresses his subconscious and inner world in chaotic and abstract words. Thus, his way of abstract expressionism in literature is spontaneous, automatic filling the pages, which occurs only under the influence of mental and emotional states. He just stares at the blank page. It transforms into a blank canvas. Then he waits for the painting pop. Finally, he gives it a title. And that title gives you another painting, as you and him are different human beings and have different minds. But this way, the author and you create art together. Whenever you finish reading one of the volumes of Exhibition, the author you will be artmates. The books are standalone, so you can read any of them in any order.
The ultimate goal of this series is to create value for your life. I hope you will enjoy and love reading Süren's eccentric books.
