Excerpt from Minutes of the Mitchell County Baptist Association of North Carolina, 138th Annual Session, 1936: Held With Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Spruce Pine, N. C., And First Baptist Church, Spruce Pine, N. C
The ministry of Rev. Luther D. Miller spans a period of 40 years, 1946 - 1986. Records of his earliest ministry are incomplete but they included pastorates in Clinton, Tennessee, and Yancey County.
Other pastorates outside of his native Mitchell County include Monroe, Michigan, and Old Fort, North Carolina.
Associational records indicate that he served Big Rock Creek on two occasions, 1954, and 1975-1976; Rebels Creek, 1973; and Cub Creek, 1982 - 1986.
Those who knew Brother Miller will remember him as a man of God who loved people and cared for the Lord's church.
I know not where his islands lift Their fronded palms in air.
