Publisher's Synopsis
This is book written for anyone who has lived through, been touched by, or has endured either abuse or racism. Alice Dickson suffered both, leading her to despair and an attempt to kill herself. The abuse and racism she experienced not only came from the outside world, but from her family.
Today racism is still an issue for her and, she believes, is prevalent throughout the world-and that we must continue to fight for who we are and what we can become, despite our upbringing. The horrific roadblocks that faced Alice, however, did not crush her spirit nor destroy her. Throughout Alice's life, there were people working on her behalf. Without them, she could not have survived to tell her story.
