Publisher's Synopsis
Mentors Versus Coaches and Managers In simplest terms, coaches and managers command, and mentors share. Think of coaching and management as formal, "vertical." The coach and manager tells the player and workers what to do and how to do it in the final analysis. In contrast, mentors advise others on how to improve. It is informal, "horizontal" sharing of insights between mentor and client. Mentoring does not involve commands. Rather, it is reciprocal sharing of wisdom between friends.
