Publisher's Synopsis

This is a love story. It is one of nostalgia, joy, honor, and friendship as the reader looks back over the lives of Jan and Daniel Clay. Daniel has Alzheimer's Disease and Jan is having heart problems; but their love is still strong and they have instilled their Christian values into some wonderful young people who have shared their lives over the years. At one point, the reader gets to see a wonderful "reunion" of the whole family as Daniel opens his eyes and knows them each and they unknowingly get to say their goodbyes to him. Soon afterwards, the answer to Jan's most ardent prayer is answered as Dan closes his eyes down here to awaken in heaven. Just minutes later as Jan fi nishes writing in her diary, she joins her husband, as a nurse with her own heartache and pain watches. This same woman, Nadine, has taken care of the couple in the last days of their lives and she has become attached to what she considers two of the most wonderful people she has ever met. She gets a few surprises herself near the ending of the novel. She fi nds love and a sweet, sweet peace in the arms of Daniel's widowed brother as he comes home from the mission fi eld for the funeral and decides to stay in the little cottage that his brother and sister-in-law have called home for so long. They both meet new challenges and discover happiness for the second time in both of their lives. The reader will laugh, cry, and often be surprised by the happenings in MEMORIES AND PRAYERS.
