Memoir Of The Operations Of The British Army In India discusses the Mahratta Wars of 1817,18, and 19. Blacker was a lieutenant colonel in the Honorable East India Company and later Surveyor General of India. He obtained a commission in the Chennai cavalry in 1798, was made a cornet in 1799, and aide-de-camp to Colonel Stevenson in the Wayanad district in 1800, and quartermaster-general in 1810. He served in Deccan in 1817, and was promoted to lieutenant-colonel. Blacker discusses the causes of the war and the initial view of the military forces. He then details the campaign fought by the British. The Pindarries were excluded from the Southern Malwaii. The Pindarries then dispersed and lescaped to beyond the Chumbul. The Bhoosluh are also discusses. Blacker details the hostilities and eventual peace with Hulkur.
