Letters from Mr. Ellis which she had saved. Letters to the late Dr. Diman, of Providence, which were received through the kindness of Mrs. Diman, are quite noteworthy. The late James Russell Lowell sent a few words, which are of much interest as a tribute from a col lege classmate. Miss Maria G. Porter, of Roch ester, New York, gives a valuable account of the Unitarian movement of fifty years ago in her city. My uncle, Dr. George E. Ellis, who helped me in the editorial work, wrote the following portions of the text: chapter on Development of Liberal Christianity, and parts of three other chapters relating to Maternal Ancestry (chap. I. Pp. 6 Call to the First Church in Boston (chap. IV. Pp. 107 and Pastor and Preacher (chap. IX. Pp. 261.
