Publisher's Synopsis
Dirk was the first love my heart militantly declared to defend and preserve till death do us part. But dad's view of Dirk was otherwise. My father who was a man of few words, spoke in volumes when it came to my dating life, to the guys I brought home to meet my parents. Without saying a word dad would give them the evil-eye look with a slight "ah, ha I know what your up to" nod as if he had a loaded gun ready to use if "things" got out of hand. And we all knew that meant "you touch'er, yer dead!"
Dad didn't say a word, he didn't have to. His face affirmed the intended fear that left my dates admitting later "Man, your dad scares me!" Exactly. After the last two short-term boyfriends who were "perfect, why don't you marry him?" He's "handsome!"dad would chuckle, teasing me, "well mannered and intelligent." He didn't understand how I couldn't fall in love with them. Knowing me, my parents expectations could have dampened my desire. If they weren't "forbidden" or "adventurous", they were boring. The chemistry didn't exist regardless of how handsome, funny or rich.
By the time Dirk came along Dad didn't bother with the evil-eye loaded gun look. He'd peek up over his readers and continue reading "Lattiudes and Attitudes" or "Flying" magazine with folded corners of the next dream he would sail or fly and I'd be showing Dirk the door just like I had the other two perfect fella's. Dad didn't have any reason to believe Dirk wouldn't be finding the same "exit" I showed the others, bluntly without explanation. When I announced we were getting married, the strongest words I'd ever heard my dad say to me flew from his lips "If you do don't ever bother coming home".
I was smart enough to see that dad's strong words were likely those of divine intervention to direct my path in the right direction which I would soon learn was to have faith in God in difficulty. And to discover how all the events of my life though seemingly disconnected from one another actually are part of the whole picture we often don't realized until much later.
This story continues unveiling epic miracles I've required from the illogical and often ridiculous events that brought me to where I am sitting today writing about it. This book will no doubt have yet another sequel and string of miracles just as sparklingly rich with the touch of God's grace.
