Publisher's Synopsis
This case has Carlos McCrary fighting his own demons as well fighting bad guys...
When Nebraska farmer Wilbur Jenkins receives a cryptic text from his missing daughter that she is held captive as a sex slave in Port City, Florida, he grabs the next flight there and begs the cops to find his her. The only clue is the phone number that sent the text. It belongs to Antonio Crucero, a mysterious diplomat from a Caribbean island paradise.
Police detective Castellano can't beat the suspect's diplomatic immunity and sends the hapless father to Carlos "Chuck" McCrary, a wisecracking private investigator with a special genius for helping people in trouble-people whom the cops can't help.
Jenkins hires McCrary to find his daughter Liz. McCrary uncovers a cesspool of sexual slavery and drug trafficking that stretches from South Florida to Switzerland to the Caribbean, and Crucero is the linchpin of the operation.
Crucero's diplomatic status may protect him from the reach of U.S. law, but it won't protect him from Chuck McCrary.
One of Crucero's drug dealers is Alena Cernan, a beautiful ruthless blonde who leads a Serbian organized crime gang. During his investigation, Chuck runs afoul of the Serbian gangsters and fights for his life in the swamps of the Everglades. When the Serbians kidnap Chuck's fiancee, he must invade their heavily-armed stronghold or risk never seeing her again.
In the final showdown with Crucero, Dallas Gorham sends readers on a white-knuckle ride that circles back to McCrary's own home, where he must confront the worst nightmare he could imagine. McCrary's Justice slices like a machete through a treacherous jungle of forced prostitution, Mexican drug cartels, and new and fearsome enemies, as Chuck McCrary maneuvers inside the gangs and outside the law.
Interview with the Author
Q - What makes the Carlos McCrary series exceptional?
A - I consider myself a serious mystery and thriller fan. My novels reflect the kind of books I like to read. My top picks are usually private detective novels, any of the thousands of thrillers and mysteries best sellers, and, of course, books featuring classic heroes like Spenser (he with no first name) and Jack Reacher (who has a first name but doesn't use it much). Basically, I like stories with a kick-butt, take-no-prisoners attitude and fast-paced action. And maybe a little sex.
The Carlos McCrary books are a great mix of these genres. The series focuses on the mystery and thriller / private investigator genre overall, with a couple of vigilante justice thrillers thrown in, some political corruption thrillers, and some organized crime and mafia involvement to keep things interesting!
I designed the series to keep you up late at night. Once you start a book, it's hard to quit.
Q - What order should I read the books in?
A - You can read the books in any order. All the stories tie up nicely by the time you finish. If you want to read them in order, I'd suggest the following sequence:
- I'm No Hero (a short story prequel introducing Carlos McCrary as a Green Beret in Afghanistan in the military rescue that earns him a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart)
- Six Murders Too Many
- Double Fake, Double Murder
- Quarterback Trap
- Dangerous Friends
- Day of the Tiger
- McCrary's Justice
Q - So, why should readers try these books?
A - The Carlos McCrary series is a fast, fun, thrill-ride that takes no prisoners! Ultimately, readers who enjoy lightning-fast pacing with a plot that twists and turns all the way to the end will get a kick out of this series.
And thanks for reading!
