Publisher's Synopsis
This textbook will be the syllabus for the Mayo Clinic Cardiology Board Review Courses in 1997 and 1998. It is specifically designed to address the needs of cardiology fellows preparing for the Sub–specialty Board Examination in Cardiovascular Diseases of the American Board of Internal Medicine. It will also be useful for Internal Medicine Board candidates as well as those preparing for other internal medicine examinations outside the United States, as cardiology usually constitutes the largest single subspecialty area in such examinations. The book covers teaching points in a reader–friendly format with concise descriptions of all important cardiovascular disease treatments and medications. Included are clinical pearls, tip boxes, examination standard multiple–choice questions, and explanatory answers. In response to the requests of board course attendees, specific sections have been added on congenital heart disease, vascular disease, infective endocarditis, AIDS and the heart, cardiology trials in brief, cardiology emergencies, ECG diagnostic criteria for boards, and study and examination techniques for the cardiology boards. The book also serves as a concise summary of current cardiology care for primary care providers and other medical professionals with a special interest in cardiology
