Publisher's Synopsis

Remotely curious about family history as a teenager when he visited what was once a farm owned by his Martin ancestors in 17th and 18th century Massachusetts, George B. Martin vaguely recognized the valuable resource his grandparents provided for understanding his family history, but neglected to act on it at that time. It wasn't until decades later, long after his grandparents and their generation were gone, that he developed an intense interest in researching and writing about his family's history. Although he overlooked the opportunity to obtain his grandparents' perspectives, he compensated to some extent by interviewing his own octogenarian parents in 2012.

George is an enthusiastic amateur writer. His first book, An Outsider's Campaign Diary, discussed his observations of Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign and the first two years of the Obama presidency. He operates on the premise that rather than history being a collection of dry facts, history is essentially storytelling, with the capacity to engage the reader by opening a window through time.
