Thus, the purpose of this book is to help people better appreciate the sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary during the passion of her Son as well as the roles she played in the redemptive mission of Jesus Christ. The scriptural readings, meditations, and prayers provided in this book have been arranged for each day from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday so as to aid reflections on the sorrows that Mary suffered during the passion and death of Jesus. This book takes you through the pains sorrows that Mary suffered on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. Her sorrows on these three days of her Son's life have been arraigned in this book as follows: Ash Wednesday: The Agony in the Garden; Thursday After Ash Wednesday: The Betrayal of Jesus by Judas; Friday After Ash Wednesday: The Arrest of Jesus; Saturday After Ash Wednesday: Jesus in the House of Ananias; First Week of Lent: Jesus Before the Sanhedrin; Second Week of Lent: Jesus Before Pilate; Third Week of Lent: The Way of the Cross; Fourth Week of Lent: The Crucifixion of Jesus; Fifth Week of Lent: The Death of Jesus; and Holy Week: The Burial of Jesus. Each day in this book is divided into three parts. The first part is a scripture reading, the second part is a meditation, and the third part is a prayer. The prayers of the Stations of the Cross have been provided in the appendix of this book.
