The plot expresses courage and struggles of a young Native American girl. A fiction story but inspired by real life events and dreams. New Moon is the main character, she is from a tribe located in the heart of a mountain range. She is the daughter of Chief Red Lightning. New Moon is not like the other young girls, she wants to be just like her father. When her father does not return from a voyage with her brothers, she bravely sets out to find them. There is a new chief his name is Crow Feather he is greedy and evil. Chief Crow Father does not lead like a true honorable leader. Chief Red Lightning must come home and restore the peace. New Moon leans on prayers to the Great Spirit and her ancestors to give her strength on her journey. This book is part of a small series, the next book is titled, "The Gift of the Great Spirit."
