Publisher's Synopsis
Manifestation has multiple meanings. It refers both to an 'observable phenomenon' and to "a gathering of people proclaiming, often progressive ideas". Yasser Ballemans' works are manifestations. These appearances give rise to the recognition that reality, as we experience it, is undetermined. This then provides space for reassessment of that very experience and thus challenges us to rediscover our parameters. In search of new worlds of experience, we can map out new levels of experience! In the accompanying publication, Bart Rutten, curator of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, describes the specific properties and developments in the work of young Yasser Ballemans. In his pseudo-philosophical mapping, Freek Lomme, director of Onomatopee, progressively outlines the work of Ballemans in an attempt to define the artistic qualities of indeterminacy.
