Publisher's Synopsis

The aim of this guideline is to support and improve the management of violence in mental health services by providing staff and service users with clear, practical guidelines. In producing the guideline, information from national guidance documents and the views of service users, carers and nurses were combined with a systematic review of research evidence to produce guideline statements. These statements focus upon four main areas: ward design and organization; anticipating and preventing violence; medication in the context of violence; and the prediction of short-term violence.
