If you only read this introduction I want you to know that things do happen for a reason, even if we do not know why. I believe people are put into our lives and it's up to us to make the most of those encounters. This is the story of a chance meeting and my commitment to do what that voice in my head, as well as my heart, said was the right thing to do. I would not wish the last year of Candy's life on anyone. She lived through "hell on earth", the death of her unborn child, being diagnosed with cancer, then discovering more about herself, her "real" friends, and the family she never knew she had.
