BOOK 17: The First Korean War: Old hatreds start new wars as Korea's four kingdoms battle for dominance, dragging Marc Maximus into the mud. Kings fight dirty duels, leaving corpses in the snow. When Goguryeo besieges Baekje's capital, Marc must choose sides and pick enemies. Something horrible happens in Japan, forcing Marc to retreat, while China plunges into civil war. An old rival dies, but a new warlord threatens Korea as Gwan the Great plans the total conquest of Korea.
BOOK 18: Gwan the Great: In Japan, Marc must bring down a high lord without angering an emperor, Morgan discovers gold, and Brits start building Tokyo among dangerous Emishi nomads. In China, Brits are battling new enemies to take over China.
