Publisher's Synopsis
Nice people abound but in our desperate search for foils and antagonists, we shallow, machismo writers of fiction have invented the nagging, hysterical, selfish and domineering wife. What choice did we have? We could not have incriminated ourselves! Shakespeare's Shrew set the tone. Out of the ashes, then, like the Phoenix, arose Mrs. Brophy. On behalf of our ilk, I apologize to lovely and gracious distaffs everywhere, past and present. Perhaps future generations will devise more creative and appropriate domestic foils. Psst! I think it is happening already. Some of the nicest people I know are women. Really!
