Publisher's Synopsis

MVS/TSO is the mainframe equivalent of MS-DOS on a personal computer. To use an MVS system effectively, a user must know how to use TSO commands, just as a PC user must know how to use DOS commands to use a PC effectively.;There are two ways to use TSO: using TSO commands directly, or using a shell called ISPF. Doug Lowe shows how to use TSO commands and the ISPF shell for everyday tasks, such as editing and compiling programs, deleting, copying, or renaming files, and submitting background jobs.;The book also demonstrates how to create and use command procedures, or CLISTS. To use the PC analogy again, a CLIST is the equivalent of an MD-DOS batch file, containing TSO commands that are executed together by a single command. MVS TSO teaches the reader how to create simple as well as complex CLISTS, including CLISTS that do terminal I/O and file processing.
