Alfred Kirk was born in Leicester and was a member of the Loyal Lancashire Regiment. He was taken prisoner by the Japanese Empire in Singapore, on the 15th February 1942 and was held at several POW camps. During the next three and a half years he was held at Changi on Singapore Island and then transported via a hellship to Keijo in Korea and then moved onto Kobe House and Motoyama on the mainland of Japan. This book tells the full story of his survival against all the odds.
