Excerpt:"What is this place?" He doesn't answer as he waves his hand around in the air. All of a sudden, we're standing outside of a brown door. A woman's screams can be heard on the other side of the door. Grabbing my hand again he walks us through the door without opening it. There are doctors running around and a woman lying on the table with her legs open in the middle of the room. A tall dark man, whom I recognize to be my father, is standing next to her in blue hospital garment holding her hand. The woman screams again and now I know exactly what this is. "You brought me back to when I was born?", I say angrily. "You have no idea what this day meant for me." Snatching my hand away from his, "Oh yeah. And what is that exactly?" He looks over to me, his eyes that beautiful blue again, before looking past me and in my father's direction. I follow is line of vision and I see him standing in the corner. Confusion written on his face. "I couldn't understand why God brought me to this place. But now I know it was to prove a point and answer the only question I had for him since I was banished from Heaven." I stare at the Lucifer in the corner for a few more moments until my mother's wails draw me back to look at what's unfolding in front of me. There's a lady doctor between her legs telling her that they need to do an emergency c-section. They quickly prep her and I watch my father back up to the window away from the delivery table. It makes sense that he did because in less than seconds doctors and nurses rush throughout the room and set my mother up for surgery. "Look at me Annalise."
