Publisher's Synopsis
It's summer in Rathmoye and when a stranger appears photographing the mourners at Mrs Connulty's funeral it doesn't go unnoticed. Florian Kilderry couldn't know that the Connultys are said to own half the town: he has come to Rathmoye to photograph the remains of its burnt-out cinema. But Mrs Connulty's daughter resolves to keep an eye on Florian Kilderry, and witnesses the events that follow... Out in the country, Dillahan, a farmer and a decent man, was accidentally responsible for the deaths of his wife and baby and had later married Ellie. But Ellie falls in love with Florian, although he's planning to leave Ireland and begin anew after what he considers to be his failed life...and a dangerously reckless attachment develops between them.
